Events
February 28: Visit to the Old Bailey. Meet at 5.15 pm at the Lord Mayor’s entrance in the far right hand corner of Warwick Square. The tour will last until 7 pm. Following the tour those who wish to do so are invited to dine at a nearby branch of Cafe Rouge. Places have been reserved but no food ordered so choose what you want to eat and drink and pay for it at the time. Priority for the tour will be given to members who failed to get a ticket for the last visit. There are only 35 places so an early response would be wise!
March 26th: City Dinner at Inner Temple (black tie). 7 pm (Bucks Fizz) for 7.30 (Sit down). Guest speaker will be Jim Cumbes, right-arm medium bowler who made his debut for Lancashire CCC in 1963. July 5th 2012: VISIT TO LAMBETH PALACE & THE GARDEN MUSEUM: Meet at 10.45 am at the Palace Gatehouse. Our tour begins at 11 am and lasts approximately one hour.
Lunch: There are two cafes on the nearby Embankment, one al fresco and one with covered seating, both offering snack meals. Lambeth Palace itself does not have a café. The Garden Museum does have a café and if you wish to book for lunch there phone 020 7401 8865. It only serves vegetarian food. For those wanting a more sedate ‘sit down’ lunch there is Novotel London Waterloo in Lambeth Road (020 7793 1010). It would be wise to make a reservation. Novotel also has a public car park – I would advise a phone call to confirm charges!
Garden Museum (The Museum of Garden History): Our conducted tour begins at 2 pm and, again, lasts about an hour. This will be followed by tea and cakes in their café. This has been booked and the price is included in your ticket price.
Toilets: There are toilet facilities in both places.
